We’re starting off strong with this braided hair watercolor piece. I always load my brush too heavy on the first try, so the colors bleed everywhere before I get any control. That’s actually the trick, so no two braids ever look the same! Wet-on-wet does the work; you just have to let go a little.

Realistic hand sketches are genuinely one of the hardest things to draw well. Knuckles, shadows and proportion all have to line up just right. My own hand ends up the model every time since it never complains about posing, lol! I cramp my fingers holding the pose, but the payoff is honestly worth it! Ten minutes of shaking it out afterward is a small price to pay.
