Looking for christmas front door decor with a little something extra? Think oversized red bows, ornament-filled lanterns and a garland covered in peppermint swirls.
These ideas include whole entryway displays plus smaller details you can borrow for your own door.
You can keep it simple or go all out. I especially love the burgundy bows and little twinkling lights.
Start with a wreath you like, then decide whether your porch needs anything more.
Christmas Door Decorations Worth Saving
red ornaments and a trailing bow
We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous oversized wreath. I love how the red ornaments gather along the upper right side while most of the greenery stays plain.
For a similar look, choose a big red bow with long tails rather than adding ornaments all the way around.
a full ornament arch
If you want to go all out around your doorway, this one is for you. Red, pale gold and silver-colored baubles fill the greenery from the porch roof right down to the ground.
The pinecones and little tied bundles are such pretty details. I’d leave the door itself undecorated here, just like the pale green one in the picture.
a little tree with red berries
How cute is this little tree arrangement? The upright tree sits above a wide skirt of trailing greenery with bright red berry accents tucked around its base.
Try this beside your door if you’d rather decorate a planter than hang a wreath.
burgundy bow and tiny lights
This wreath may just be one of my favorites here. The oversized burgundy bow is so pretty against the dark door, especially with those long tails hanging through the center.
Pinecones, dark red berries and tiny lights fill the greenery. Keep your own ribbon a deep red if you love this look.
a giant pink porch bow
OMG, how fun is this entrance? That giant pink bow stretches across the porch with its tails curling down both sides.
The blue door underneath makes the whole combination even cuter.
There are colorful ornaments, snowy-looking trees and little pink lanterns too. If the huge bow is more than you want, borrow the pink-and-red ribbon pairing for your wreath.
stacked Christmas presents
Don’t want to cover your doorway in greenery? No problem!
This stack of three wrapped boxes brings in red, gold and cream without a garland.
I love the wide red ribbon running down the front. Try a decorative present stack in a sheltered corner beside your door.
bauble-filled lanterns
These lanterns are such a cute way to show off Christmas ornaments. Red, gold-colored and silver-colored baubles fill the bottoms, with greenery and berries decorating the tops.
The black bows with white dots are my favorite part. Choose a dotted ribbon if you want something a little different from the usual plaid.
green wreaths and black planters
If you’re looking for a display without bright ribbons or colorful ornaments, go with this green-and-black combination. Matching wreaths hang on the double doors while little lit trees sit in black planters.
I love the patterned rug beneath them. The tall black lanterns fit right in.
oversized gold bells
Now those are some big jingle bells! Gold-colored bells and red bows run up the left side of this entrance and continue across the top.
The greenery follows that same one-sided arrangement. For a smaller version, try a cluster of bells at one upper corner rather than framing the whole door.
red ribbon and plaid bows
I love this red ribbon winding through the greenery. The plaid bows repeat down both sides, with another bow on the pinecone wreath in the middle.
If you want to try the same mix, choose a plain wide ribbon for the loops and patterned ribbon for the bows.
a round Christmas tree sign
How cute are these little white trees? Each one has a different design above the words “Merry Christmas” on this round brown-and-green sign.
The dark plaid bow and greenery at the top finish it off. This is a lovely alternative if you want a door decoration that isn’t another wreath.
burgundy baubles and glowing greenery
This is another full doorway garland, but the deep red ornaments give it a different look. I am obsessed with the little lights scattered through the branches.
Small bows, hanging bells and trailing red berries fill out the display. You don’t need a matching wreath here.
The plain pale door looks lovely just as it is.
a red truck wreath
The little red truck is just adorable in this wreath. It sits right across the center, surrounded by pinecones, berry accents and plenty of greenery.
Try red-and-black checked ribbon if you want to follow this design. I especially love the big bow sitting off to the left.
citrus slices and red berries
If you love a wreath with lots of little details, take a closer look at this one. Dark-centered citrus slices, small orange fruits and red berries sit among broad green leaves and finer branches.
The cinnamon-stick accents are a pretty addition too. I’d skip a big bow on this style so you can see all those details.
simple white wreath lights
Don’t want bows, berries or colorful baubles? No problem there!
This green wreath keeps things simple with little pinecones and round white lights.
I love how much of the greenery you can still see. Save this one if the fuller decorated wreaths aren’t quite your style.
an oversized red stocking
Who says a stocking has to stay by the fireplace? This oversized red one hangs on the door with greenery, red berries and gold-colored and silver-colored ornaments peeking out of the top.
It’s such a fun change from a round wreath. The little trees beside the door are a cute finishing touch.
snowy branches and red ribbon
I am obsessed with this snowy-looking wreath. The red berries and sparkling pink-red baubles look so pretty against all those white-dusted branches.
A narrow red bow hangs through the center with long tails. Keep the ribbon slim if you want the cascading greenery to stay on show.
a pinecone candy cane
How cute is this candy cane shape? Instead of red-and-white stripes, it’s covered in brown pinecones with a little greenery along the right side.
The cream, red and green plaid bow brings in the Christmas colors. Those small brown stars are worth keeping if you try a similar decoration.
a dressed-up wall lantern
Don’t forget the space beside your door. This black wall lantern has greenery above and below it, with gold-colored ornaments, berry accents and a burgundy bow.
I love the illuminated branches inside. For your own version, use lighting suited to the display and keep decorations clear of hot fixtures.
peppermint swirls and candy canes
Last but definitely not least, we have this playful candy-themed doorway. Giant striped candy canes, peppermint swirls and little lollipop shapes cover the garland. There is so much to look at!
The wreath carries on the red-and-white theme with striped ribbon and dotted ornaments. Borrow that ribbon mix if you want a smaller taste of this look.
