Looking for christmas window decor with a little something extra? Think red ribbon wreaths, glowing stars and tiny houses lined up along the sill.
These pictures give you plenty to choose from, whether you love traditional red and green or want to keep everything white.
You can keep it simple or go all out with lights. There’s also a little kitchen and wall inspiration here, with details you can borrow for your windows.
Christmas window ideas worth saving
wreaths with long red bows
We’re starting off strong with these gorgeous green wreaths and red bows. I love the long ribbons hanging down each window.
The smaller greenery arrangements underneath have little red ornaments tucked between the branches.

Try repeating the same wreath across neighboring windows if you want this matching look.
greenery and checked ribbon
How pretty is that bow? The red-and-white checked ribbon hangs from the upper corner, with greenery trailing across the top and down the side of the window.
Keep the ribbon tails long if you’re trying this arrangement. The little red berry clusters are a lovely detail too.
a window full of snowflakes
If you are looking for something that goes all out, then this one is for you. There are white snowflakes everywhere, with oversized folded decorations hanging in front of the smaller shapes.
I am obsessed with the lights scattered between them. The snowy-looking greenery along the sill finishes the display.
glowing stars at different heights
This star display may just be one of my favorites here. I love the large white star beside the peach-colored one, plus those little star lights hanging in vertical strands.
Try mixing standing stars with hanging ones rather than putting everything at the same height.
red and gold hanging baubles
Who says all your ornaments have to stay on the tree? These red and gold-colored baubles hang above a window box filled with greenery, lights and red bows.
Choose a few different ornament sizes to follow this look. I’d keep the hanging lengths uneven too.
a single candle light
Don’t want to go overboard with the decorations? No problem!
This window has a single candle-shaped light between white café curtains. The nearby tree’s lights are reflected in the glass.
For your own version, try a battery-operated window candle in a gold-tone holder.
colorful curtain lights
I am obsessed with these colorful lights. The little pink, blue, green and golden points run all the way down the windows in front of the pale curtains.
If you love a more-is-more Christmas display, this gives you plenty of sparkle without adding hanging ornaments.
a snowy village drawing
How adorable are these little houses? This design is on a glazed door, with detailed white buildings along the bottom and a crescent moon above.
The tiny dots make it look like snow is falling.
For a simpler window version, try a few house outlines with stars above them.
white ornaments and tiny trees
If you’re looking for a display that keeps the colors simple, go with white ornaments and green trees. Snowflakes and round decorations hang beneath the top garland, while little trees and white spheres line the sill.

The white tree in the middle is my favorite part of this arrangement.
a little house in the snow
This little house is just too cute. I love the glowing windows and the tiny trees beside the front steps.
A much taller snowy-looking tree fills the right side of the sill.
Start with one miniature house if you want to try a smaller version. A few lights around its base would be a pretty addition.
a village along the sill
Here is another little village idea, but this one stretches along a row of windows. The tall brown house has lit windows, with smaller buildings and trees spaced farther down the sill.
Try leaving a little room between your houses instead of grouping them all together. The strand of lights follows the front edge here.
poinsettia and candy canes
How cute is that reindeer mug? The red poinsettia and striped candy canes bring lots of color to this otherwise pale window corner.
There’s a little lit tree beside the sill too, sitting on a stack of books with a wrapped gift. I’d choose the poinsettia and mug if you only have room for a couple of pieces.
orange slices and little stars
I love the light shining through these orange slices. They hang among green branches, dark red berry strands and tiny brown stars.
If you want a change from shiny baubles, this is a lovely direction to try. Keep the slices in front of the glass so you can see their pretty details.
gingerbread and cupcake window art
The candy theme is so cute in this window. There are pink cupcakes, gingerbread figures and a tall gingerbread house, with green swags drawn across the lower panes.
I especially love the blue-and-white snowy borders. For a smaller version, choose one gingerbread figure and a few colorful ornaments rather than filling every pane.
gift-wrapped cabinets and striped lights
How cute are these gift-wrapped kitchen cabinets? The red ribbon crosses and bows look so pretty against the white doors.
Even the pendant stems have red-and-white candy-cane stripes, with greenery and red and gold-colored ornaments around the shades.
For a window version, try a red bow at the top of your frame or hang candy-cane-striped ornaments in front of the glass.
nutcracker window silhouettes
Calling all Nutcracker fans, this window is such a pretty idea. A soldier, a dancer and a crowned mouse appear as dark silhouettes against the lights.
The little rocking horse and hanging branch shapes are lovely extras. Keep your main figures large if you want to follow this display.
red stockings at the windows
Don’t have a mantel you want to decorate? Try taking your stockings to the windows instead.
These red stockings with white cuffs hang in a row, each paired with a small bunch of greenery.
I love how simple this looks against the white window frames.
hanging packages beneath greenery
I love this little hanging display beneath the sloping ceiling. Patterned packages, stocking shapes and snowflake ornaments hang along the wall below a long green garland.
Try borrowing the arrangement for a window, with greenery across the top and little packages hanging at different heights. Keep a few snowflakes between them like the ones here.
berries and pinecones in a window box
Bring the decorating outside with this pretty window box. I love the red berry clusters among the green branches, especially beside those large pinecones.
The tall bare twigs reach up in front of the glass. Try a similar mix of trailing greenery and upright branches if you like this fuller arrangement.
three kings and a large star
Last but definitely not least, we have this white outline design with three crowned figures and a large star. The figures step up in height across the window, with long curved lines forming their robes.
If you want a religious Christmas design without lots of tiny details, this is a lovely one to save.
