Looking for french riviera style homes with pretty shutters, leafy terraces and a little seaside color? These pictures offer plenty to save, from pale blue doors to yellow-striped seating.
There’s a mix of French-inspired exteriors, Mediterranean gardens and coastal rooms rather than one single architectural style.
You can dream big with a pool overlooking the water or start small with a pair of blue vases. I especially love the colorful shutters and flower-covered entrances!
French Riviera-Inspired Home Ideas Worth Saving
blue shutters and an arched doorway
We’re starting off strong with these gorgeous blue shutters. I love how the front door repeats the same color beneath that little curved balcony. The pale exterior and arched windows give you plenty to admire.
For a smaller take on this look, try matching your front door to your shutters and placing a planter on either side.
cream umbrellas by the pool
Who wouldn’t want to spend an afternoon out here? The cream umbrellas, pale loungers and orange-red roof look so pretty together.
There’s seating along the upstairs terrace too.
If you’re planning your own patio, take inspiration from the matching umbrellas rather than adding a different color to every seating area.
pink flowers over the door
I am obsessed with this flower-covered entrance. The bright pink blooms stretch over the brown double door and little blue window. It’s such a lovely combination against the white walls.
The rounded pots beside the steps are worth saving as inspiration too. You don’t need a whole wall of flowers to borrow that detail.
a lantern-lit entrance
If you prefer a more understated exterior, this one is for you. Pale rectangular wall blocks surround the dark entrance, with glowing lanterns and narrow upright plants beside it. I especially love the small decorative railing beneath the upstairs window.
an arch and oversized pots
This courtyard may just be one of my favorites here. I love the tall arched opening and the simple bench tucked beside it.
The large orange-brown pots and citrus branches bring so much color to the pale surroundings.
Try grouping pots of different heights near your own entrance, leaving the doorway clear.
a pool above the coastline
Okay, that view is gorgeous! The pool stretches toward the coastline, with a pale corner sofa beneath an open overhead frame.
There’s even a square platform rising out of the water.
For a terrace without the dramatic view, I’d borrow the simple pale seating and keep the accessories to a minimum.
cream seating and blue vases
Don’t want to go all out with coastal patterns? No problem!
This cream sofa, chunky brown coffee table and pale curtains give you a quieter option.
The cobalt-blue vases are my favorite part. Try a pair on your sideboard with a seaside painting above, just like this.
yellow stripes by the sea
How cute are these yellow-and-white stripes? This is a seaside dining setup rather than a home, but there’s plenty of patio inspiration here.
The striped seating matches the scalloped umbrella edges.
Bring a little of that look home with yellow-striped cushions and a white tablecloth. You can skip the rows of tables!
a balcony full of red flowers
I love this little balcony with its curved black railing. The red flowers spill around the corners, with gray shutters behind them and a lantern tucked to one side.
Even the brackets underneath have decorative curls.
If you already have a balcony, securely fitted flower boxes could give you a similar splash of color.
peach walls and green shutters
If you are looking for a true eye-catcher, then this one is for you. The peach exterior and muted green shutters are so pretty together.
Those matching staircases make the entrance especially striking.
I also love the rounded shrubs around the fountain. The color pairing alone is worth saving, even if a grand courtyard isn’t in your plans.
purple flowers along the path
The garden fans are going to love this! Tall, narrow trees rise above loose purple flowers beside a pale path.
Behind them sits a low house with blue-gray shutters.
For your own garden, ask a local nursery about plants suited to your area that could give you this mix of upright greenery and spreading flowers.
pale green kitchen squares
This kitchen is such a pretty change from plain white. I love the pale green square backsplash with the brown countertop and cream cabinets.
The open shelf holds bowls, boards and a few small vessels.
Try displaying your everyday bowls in a similar little stack. Keep dried stems well away from the hob if you borrow the decorative touches.
diamonds along the garden path
There’s so much to love about this garden, but the patterned path is my favorite. Dark diamond outlines run between large pale planters, low flowering plants and rounded shrubs.
The white flowers climbing beside the house are gorgeous too. I’d keep those pale flowers in mind if you want a garden with less bright color.
dining beside the pool
Don’t want to fill your dining table with decorations? No problem there!
This long pale table has just a small dark centerpiece, with crisscross-backed chairs all around it.
I love the stripes of sunlight coming through the overhead slats. The clear panels leave the pool and sea view on show.
an arched bathroom view
That huge arched doorway is absolutely gorgeous. Dark window divisions frame the palms and water outside, while a white bath and long vanity sit on either side of the room.
For a detail you can borrow without rebuilding your bathroom, try shaded wall lights beside an arched mirror. The little curled brackets here are so pretty.
yellow walls and a pale blue door
If you love color, this yellow room is for you. The pale blue door and long white curtains look lovely against those golden walls.
Exposed ceiling beams and baskets give you plenty of smaller details to notice.
Don’t forget the rug if you’re trying this combination. Its yellow shapes repeat the wall color without matching everything exactly.
winding steps and pale shutters
This is another lovely pale exterior, but the winding garden steps make it feel quite different. They climb between curved walls and planted terraces toward the shuttered house.
I especially love the silvery-green foliage beside the path. There’s room between the plants to see the shapes of the walls and steps.
blue shutters inside the bedroom
Why leave all the pretty shutters outside? These tall blue shutters frame the bedroom’s windows and open doorway, with a paler blue ceiling above. The white bedding keeps the rest simple.
This room leans toward porch-house inspiration rather than a distinctly Riviera look. Still, the blue-and-white pairing is a lovely idea to borrow for a coastal bedroom.
a lemon tree beside the chair
Sometimes one corner is all the inspiration you need. I love this lemon-filled tree beside the cream-cushioned chair.
The oversized tan pot looks so pretty against the pale columns and dark railing.
If your growing conditions suit a citrus tree, try one near your seating area. A striped cushion would be a simple finishing touch.
lanterns along the evening path
Last but definitely not least, we have this gorgeous evening terrace. Glowing lanterns line the path beneath dark shutters, with the sea and hillside beyond the low wall.
I love the pools of golden light along the paving. For your own walkway, try outdoor-rated lantern lights placed safely clear of where people walk.
