Looking for harry potter crafts for adults that go beyond a wand? Potion bottles, owl decorations and a tiny alley tucked between books give you plenty to choose from.
There are smaller ideas for your reading corner plus detailed pieces you might want to make your next big project.
You can keep things simple or go all out. Pick your favorite house colors, save a few designs you love and start with the craft that catches your eye.
Harry Potter Craft Ideas Worth Saving
yellow and black scarf bookmark
We’re starting off strong with this cute scarf-shaped bookmark. The bright yellow sections and black stripes give it a Hufflepuff look.
I especially love the little fringe at both ends.
Try the same shape in your own house colors if yellow and black aren’t your first choice.
wands with twisted handles
Who says every wand needs to look the same? These slim brown wands have pale raised handles with loops, spirals and rounded bumps.
Some handles are fairly simple while others are much more knobbly.
For your own version, choose one handle pattern you like rather than trying to make the whole batch match.
floating candle cutouts
I am obsessed with these floating candles. The long cream-colored shapes and glittery gold flames are so pretty against the gray background.
Hang your own candle cutouts at different heights to follow this display. The uneven arrangement is worth keeping, especially above a table of books and little magical props.
golden egg ornament
How gorgeous is this little egg ornament? The curved gold-colored outer sections open around a white center, with a hanging loop at the top.
I’d keep the gold and white pairing for a version inspired by the Triwizard golden egg. It looks lovely without any extra lettering.
bubbly polyjuice bottle
This potion bottle may just be one of my favorites here. I love the green and purple shine on those rounded bubbles.
They trail down the dark bottle and cluster around its shoulder.
For a similar decoration, leave the front label mostly clear so you can still see the potion name.
red Hogwarts seal
Want a little Hogwarts detail for your letters? This image pairs a black-and-white crest with a red seal design featuring the same shield and central H.
You could use a crest seal as the finishing touch on a handmade invitation. I’d leave the envelope fairly plain so that bright red detail gets its moment.
platform nine and three-quarters
If you are looking for something big and bold, then this one is for you. The oversized black numbers sit inside a pale circle across a red brick-patterned background.
For a smaller take, try the same design on a display board rather than a whole wall. Keep the brick pattern showing through for that worn station-sign look.
book-page wreath with flowers
I am obsessed with this wreath. The curled printed pages, black Harry Potter motifs and pale yellow flowers look so pretty together.
Those dark green leaves are a lovely addition too.
If you’d rather not use book pages, try printed text sheets for your own version. Leave some of the cones facing outward so you can see the designs.
marauder-inspired tote
Don’t want to go all out with color? No problem!
This pale tote has a black ribbon-style design with the words “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.”
The little footprints circling the lettering are my favorite part. Keep plenty of empty space around your design to follow this simple look.
screaming mandrake figures
Those faces! The tall mandrake-inspired figures have huge open mouths, white teeth and leafy tops.
The smaller figures sitting beside them are just as funny.
If you like making character props, save this for the expressions alone. You could give your own little mandrake a crooked smile instead of that full-on scream.
colorful Hogwarts hoop
This is such a cute way to bring the Hogwarts crest into a hoop design. Red, green, yellow and blue sections sit inside a yellow outline, with a white H patch in the middle.

I love the black background. Keep that dark backdrop if you want your own house colors to stand out like these.
Deathly Hallows pendant
If you’re looking for a jewelry idea without lots of extra decoration, go with a Deathly Hallows pendant like this one. The silver-colored triangle, circle and center line keep it simple.
The little wrapped sections at the joins are a pretty detail all on their own.
striped broom props
These broom props have such a neat shape. Long reddish-brown and pale strips curve outward through the middle, then narrow at the ends.
Dark bands wrap around the base of each bundle.
For your own display, I’d pair one with a small Quidditch sign rather than adding more decoration to the broom itself.
little spell notebooks
How cute are these spell books? The black covers have blue, pink or purple title panels, plus little moons and wand designs.
Give a plain notebook a similar cover with your favorite accent color. Don’t forget the pale corner decorations if you want to keep that extra bit of detail.
shaggy monster book
This is one book that looks like it might object to being opened, haha! The shaggy brown cover has red eyes and uneven title plaques with gold-colored lettering.
If you’re planning a Monster Book of Monsters prop, save this for the cover details. I especially love how the eyes peek out from that messy surface.
little owls with letters
OMG, how adorable are these little owls? Their wide white wings frame cream-colored envelopes with tiny red seals.
The big black eyes and small beaks are worth keeping if you make your own version. You could add a hanging loop to turn the idea into a tree ornament.
gold-topped Veritaserum bottle
Here’s another potion bottle, but it looks quite different from the bubbly one above. This one has a pale aqua appearance with sparkly flecks, a tan label and a gold-colored dripping shape around the neck.
I love the chain and faceted charm at the top. Try those details on a decorative bottle if you want something a little more ornate.
Hogwarts cross-stitch sampler
If you love a design with lots to look at, this one is for you. The Hogwarts crest fills the center, with a winged letter and red seal above it and a little castle below.
The floating candles and broomsticks are such pretty additions. I’d frame a finished piece like this on its own rather than crowding it with other wall decorations.
Diagon Alley shop signs
Which shop would you pick first? This collection includes colorful sign designs for Ollivander’s, Flourish & Blotts and The Leaky Cauldron, among others.
The stacked-book shape is a favorite detail. For your own craft, try making one shop-inspired sign for a reading corner instead of fitting the whole street onto a single wall.
miniature alley book nook
Last but definitely not least, we have this tiny alley tucked between books. I love the red brick arch and glowing windows!
The crooked shopfronts and curved paving give you so much to look at.
Save this one if you enjoy miniature scenes. A narrow passage with a shop on either side would be a lovely starting point for your own magical book nook.
