20 Christmas Porch Leaners and Seasonal Entryway Ideas

Looking for christmas porch leaners with a little personality? Think candy-cane stripes, smiling snowmen and big red letters beside your front door.

There’s plenty of Christmas inspiration here, plus a few other seasonal decorations to distinguish from the holiday signs.

You can keep things simple with a white sign or go all out with bows and lights. Pick your favorite colors first, then look for the little details you’d love to bring to your own entryway.

Porch signs and festive details worth saving

red letters and leafy sprigs

We’re starting off strong with this pretty white Christmas sign. I love the black script above the stacked red letters. The green sprigs at the top and bottom give it just enough extra color.

Try pairing yours with a little reindeer decoration like the one beside this sign.

let it snow in black and white

Don’t want to go all out with red and green? No problem!

This black sign keeps things simple with white lettering, little snowflakes and scattered dots. Those oversized letters make the word “SNOW” the star of the design.

checked home sign

How cute is this bow? The red-and-black checked background and big white “HOME” letters are lovely, but that pinecone in the middle is my favorite part.

If you want to follow this look, add a tan bow with greenery and little red bells across the O.

glowing fall leaves

This selected picture is a fall display rather than a Christmas leaner. The dark sign says “hello FALL,” with glowing leaf details beside a jack-o’-lantern.

Save this one for autumn inspiration. It would need a different seasonal design to belong in a Christmas-only collection.

snowman with a checked scarf

I am obsessed with this smiling snowman. The black-and-white checked scarf is so cute with the matching band on his hat.

The “Let it Snow” lettering fills the space above him, so there’s no need to add another greeting. I’d keep the surrounding decorations simple.

red signs with curling letters

If you love decorative lettering, these two signs are for you. Both have red backgrounds and sweeping Christmas letters, but the one on the left also has a painted streetlamp with a little wreath.

Choose the lamp design for more illustration or the right-hand version if you want the lettering to do all the work.

a wreath in joy

This is actually one of my favorite ways to spell out “JOY.” A green wreath takes the place of the O between two big white letters.

I love the little red berries against the muted red background. Keep that same color combination if you want a traditional Christmas look.

welcome with a leafy bow

Looking for something that isn’t tied to one holiday? This white welcome sign has sweeping black script, a brown border and a leafy arrangement at the top.

The neutral bow and hanging beads are pretty as they are. For a Christmas variation, you could tuck a few red berry decorations into the greenery.

mint leaves and red berries

This Christmas sign may just be my favorite one so far. I love all the pale green leaf shapes around the white letters.

The little red dots bring in another Christmas color without covering the dark background.

A white lantern beside it is a lovely finishing touch, just like in this display.

candy stripes and santa

How cute are these candy-cane designs? One sign mixes striped letters with Santa’s face, while the other has a giant candy cane beneath a red Christmas greeting.

I’d choose the pale blue background if you love snowflakes. The black version is a fun option if you want more Santa details.

red and green nutcracker

Don’t want any words on your sign? This nutcracker gives you plenty to look at without a greeting.

The tall red hat, green trousers and yellow buttons fill almost the entire black panel.

I especially love the curled white mustache and those crisscross boot details.

blue scarf snowman

This snowman is just adorable with his tall black hat and long orange nose. I love the blue lines in the scarf and the little painted patches of snow along the hat.

The brown grain-patterned background stays visible around him. Try this color combination if you’d rather use blue than Christmas red.

autumn leaves and a streetlamp

Here’s another selected image that belongs to fall rather than Christmas. The sign has a painted streetlamp surrounded by orange, yellow and pink leaves, with “Gather Here With Grateful Hearts” at the top.

It’s lovely autumn inspiration, but it needs replacing for a Christmas-only article.

a lantern on the door

How pretty is this little winter scene? The black lantern holds pinecones, greenery, tiny lights and a white snow-like base. A cream bow tops the greenery above it.

This is a hanging door decoration, not a porch leaner. You could use it as inspiration for an accent beside a Christmas sign.

santa with a curling beard

I am obsessed with Santa’s long curling beard here. The round nose and tiny eyes are so sweet against the dark red background.

A big red bow with gold-colored edging hangs down one side. Don’t forget that little bell on the hat if you want to borrow the same playful detail.

north pole signpost

Who wouldn’t want a little North Pole corner? This red-and-white striped post has arrows for Santa’s workshop, reindeer crossing and “Let It Snow.”

It stands on a round base rather than leaning against the wall, so it’s an alternative to a porch leaner. I love the red ball at the very top.

weathered red joy sign

This is another pretty take on “JOY,” but a white snowflake replaces the O this time. The worn-looking red finish goes so well with the greenery clustered around the bottom.

Try a little red lantern nearby if you want to repeat the sign’s color without adding another large decoration.

ho ho ho with a santa hat

That Santa hat is such a cute finishing touch! The red sign has tilted white “HO HO HO” letters, scattered snowflakes and a black belt with a round gold-colored buckle.

If you like a playful Christmas sign, keep the letters slightly angled rather than lining them all up straight.

snowmen beside a lighted tree

There’s so much to love in this one, from the stacked snowmen to the yellow star above the tree. Each snowman has a different hat or scarf, which makes the whole scene even sweeter.

The lights follow the painted tree on the left. I’d leave the space around this sign fairly simple so you can enjoy all those little details.

noel beside the doorway

Last but definitely not least, we have this lovely white “NOEL” sign. I love the tall red letters and the little reindeer silhouette above the holly.

The nearby greenery, ribbon and small wrapped decoration bring the Christmas colors together. Try a striped doormat underneath if you like this mix of simple lettering and pattern.
