Looking for year round front porch decor that doesn’t need a complete reset every season? Start with matching planters, pretty lighting or a bench you can dress up your way.
These ideas include simple everyday arrangements plus a few clearly seasonal looks.
You can keep things simple or bring in more color. Keep the larger pieces as your starting point, then change smaller decorations when you feel like it. Choose plants for your local climate and accessories suited to your porch’s exposure.
Front porch ideas to make your own
tall white planters
Don’t want to go overboard at your entrance? This doorway keeps things simple with tall white planters and round green shrubs against dark trim.
Although this looks like a business entrance rather than a home porch, the planter pairing is a lovely idea to borrow. Try one on either side of your door if there’s room.
rocking chairs and lanterns
How pretty is this row of black lanterns? I love the hanging lights paired with matching wall lights above the brown rocking chairs.
White cushions and a long tan rug keep the seating area simple. The pink flowers are a colorful addition you could change with the seasons.
layered welcome mats
If you are looking for a little pattern at your door, this one is for you. The collage pairs smaller brown doormats with larger striped and checked rugs.
The green plaid is my favorite. Try a similar pairing with enough of the bottom rug showing around every edge.
a cluster of black lanterns
I am obsessed with this little lantern grouping. The different heights look so good together, with pale pillar candles inside each black frame.
Group yours beside the entrance rather than in the walkway. For a similar glow, I’d choose outdoor-rated flameless candles.
green wreath with tiny lights
Don’t want to add a bow or bright flowers to your door? No problem!
This green wreath has broad leaves mixed with finer sprigs and little golden points of light. I love it against the black door.
potted trees by the steps
These tall, narrow-leaved trees may just be one of my favorite ideas here. The pale round pots sit beside the steps, leaving the entrance open.
If you want to try something similar, choose a tree suited to your porch’s light and climate. Keep the matching pots even if your plant choice is different.
house numbers with a planter
How cute is this house-number display? Large black numbers run down one side of the brown slatted panel, with a little planter across the bottom.
The gray-green rosettes are my favorite detail. Try a similar number-and-planter combination if you’d rather decorate the wall than fill the floor.
white cushions on a porch swing
I love this wide porch swing with its white cushions and cylindrical end pillows. The small patterned pillows look so pretty against all that white.
A pale patterned rug sits underneath. If you’re planning a swing like this, have its supports and installation checked before adding it to your porch.
mixed greenery in a gray pot
If you like lots of greenery but don’t want lots of separate pots, save this idea. There’s a round-topped tree, an upright conical plant and trailing leaves all in one gray container.
Ask a local nursery for plants with compatible care needs if you want to recreate this mix.
round shrubs in pale urns
This is another pretty way to frame your entrance. The round shrubs sit in pale, weathered-looking urns on either side of the steps.
I especially love the dark green door behind them. You don’t need a wreath here if you prefer to let the planters do the decorating.
a bench with basket storage
Want your porch bench to do a little more? This one has three open compartments with baskets tucked underneath.
The cream pillow and dark striped pillow keep the top from looking too busy.
Try this arrangement on a sheltered porch with pieces intended for outdoor use.
hanging ferns along the porch
The fern fans are going to love this! Long green fronds hang between the porch posts, with smaller potted shrubs below.
This is a plant-led look rather than a guaranteed year-round display. Keep the hanging-basket arrangement as your inspiration, then choose greenery that suits the season where you live.
black door and bright flowers
I am in love with this black door and its gold-tone hardware. The small pink-flowered wreath is so pretty above the simple oval mat.
Red flowers fill the pots beside the entrance. For your own version, keep the door and mat as the everyday starting point, then switch the flowers when needed.
a Christmas welcome sign
This one is definitely a Christmas decoration, not an all-year porch piece. The tall black welcome sign has white snowflakes, a Santa hat and a green hand holding a red ornament.
The vertical sign shape is still worth borrowing. Choose a plain welcome design for everyday use, then bring out a holiday version in December.
green branches and a sled
How pretty are these green branches with the pinecones tucked between them? Two silver-gray buckets sit in front of a weathered-looking sled.
This is a winter arrangement rather than year-round decor. You could keep similar containers as part of your porch setup and change what goes inside them.
white seating and floral cushions
If you love floral details, this porch gives you plenty to save. White open-weave armchairs have pale floral cushions, with pink flowers on the white table.
I especially love the hanging ferns beside the decorative white trim. For your own porch, try a pair of armchairs and a little table if there’s room.
brown checks and black planters
This brown checked rug is such a cute choice beside the tall black planters. It’s being held up in the picture, so you can see the full pattern before it’s laid out.
Try a similar rug at your entrance if you want pattern without adding bright colors.
yellow fruit and a black pot
The yellow fruit is my favorite part of this leafy entrance. A tall citrus tree sits in a rounded black pot, with smaller plants grouped around it.
Don’t treat this as a year-round outdoor option for every climate. If citrus isn’t suitable where you live, borrow the grouped-pot arrangement with locally appropriate plants.
a round wall planter
Don’t have much floor space for flowers? This round black wall planter is a lovely alternative.
Red, pink, purple and white blooms fill the opening, with greenery trailing below.
I love how it looks against the reddish wall. Keep the planter in place and change the planting as your conditions require.
a bench dressed for fall
Last but definitely not least, we have this bench with blue-green plaid and floral pillows. I love the blue throw draped over the seat beside the little pumpkin!
The cornstalks and pumpkin make this a fall display. Without those seasonal additions, the bench, pale cushions and striped rug give you a simple arrangement to build on.
